Durango Fire & Rescue is currently accepting applications for Fire Inspector. The position is a full-time, non-exempt, hourly position with full benefits.

Minimum Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • International Code Council Fire Inspector 1 certification
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends
 
Preferred Qualifications:
  • An Associate’s Degree and/or 3 years with the fire service or background in a code enforcement related field
  • State of Colorado Division of Fire Safety School Inspector 1 certification
  • International Code Council Fire Inspector II certification

Summer Wildland Firefighters

Durango Fire is currently accepting applications for Summer Wildland Firefighters. The positions are temporary, full-time, non-exempt, hourly positions with partial benefits.
 
Minimum Qualifications: High School diploma or GED, I-100, S-130, S-190, L-180, valid driver’s license and CPR with a preference on an EMT Basic certification. If hired must complete RT-130 and CPR refresher. The I-100 certification can be obtained online at www.fema.com

Durango Fire and Rescue relies heavily on our dedicated volunteers. Thirteen of our sixteen stations are operated by our volunteers. DFPD’s volunteers operate as Firefighters, Wildland Firefighters, First Responders, Emergency Medical Technicians, Technical Rescuers, Hazardous Material Responders, and much more.
