The Durango Fire Protection District has implemented a self-inspection program for businesses within the City. This program provides an opportunity for the Fire Department and the Durango Business Community to work together in providing a higher level of fire and life safety.
The primary focus of this program is to offer fire and life safety self-inspections to the lower hazard businesses within the City, while keeping business disruptions to a minimum.
The self-inspection program has selected businesses that are statistically at a lower risk for fire. These include smaller business occupancies such as accounting offices, law offices, engineering offices, holistic health offices, etc. Although the selected businesses are classified as low-hazard occupancies, the Fire Department believes it is important to provide these businesses with appropriate information regarding the Fire Code and safety issues. In addition, the Fire Department believes that all businesses need to meet a reasonable level of fire and life safety standards for the benefit of the entire community.
The self-inspection program is simple. Use this self-inspection form as you walk through your business to identify any life safety issues. Upon completion, please save a copy for your records, and then email, fax or mail the form to the Fire District found at the top of the page. Businesses are requested to respond within 30 days. Those businesses that have not responded will be scheduled for an on-site inspection by the fire department.
