Volunteer Supplemental Resources

A few years ago Durango Fire Rescue created the Wildland Specialist Program.  The members of these teams are single resource personnel that can provide assistance to fire management teams.  Many of these members are past employees of the U.S. Forest Service, State Forest Service, BLM and others.  These personnel work under the Durango Fire Rescue name when deployed out on a large incident but do not cost the district any budget funds.  These personnel are paid directly from the federal incidents they are deployed to.  These members bring extensive knowledge and expertise to Durango Fire Rescue and assist in our training programs for our members.
